Consider the food webs depicted above, which show a terrestrial and a marine food web. Terrestrial and aquatic habitats are intertwined in the Everglades, a freshwater marsh. Constructing a food web to trace the transfer of energy between creatures can reveal the complexity of this unique environment.
Part One: This project requires you to create an illustrated food web that depicts trophic interactions in the Everglades ecosystem. You cannot submit a food web that you found online; it must be an original invention! You must use at least eight species native to the Everglades. You must depict the movement of energy between the species in your graphic with arrows or lines. Make sure you connect your food web to your homework in the dropbox. The food web you created is worth 60 points.

Part 2: Based on the food chain you created, answer the following questions. Answers should be uploaded to the assignment dropbox as a separate attachment. The right spelling and grammar answers to the ten questions are worth a total of 40 points.
1) Make a list of the producers in your food chain.
2) In your food web, make a list of herbivores.
3) Do you have any omnivorous organisms in your food web? Which trophic levels do they consume?
4) In your food web, make a list of carnivores.
5) Within your food web, identify and name a food chain that illustrates at least three trophic levels. What creature is a secondary consumer in your chosen food chain?
6) Does your food web contain any nonnative species? Briefly discuss how they are affecting the Everglades ecosystem’s food web.
7) In your food web, pick a major consumer. What density-dependent (biotic) reasons could be causing it if its population suddenly began to decline?
8) In your food web, choose a secondary consumer. What density-dependent (biotic) variables possibly be driving its population to abruptly increase?
9) Does your food web contain any keystone species? What would happen if a keystone species disappeared from your food web? How would this affect the other organisms?
10) Does your food web contain any endangered or threatened species? What effect would the extinction of the species have on other organisms?
