Is there a distinction between “best practice” and “common practice”?
When you first started working for your present company, experienced coworkers may have shared specifics regarding processes and procedures with you. Perhaps you even went to an orientation session to learn more about these topics. As a “rookie,” you probably limited your questions to those that would best assist you in performing your new responsibilities.
With time and experience, you may have noticed features of these processes and procedures that you’d like to investigate deeper. This is the domain of clinical investigation.
The practice of asking questions regarding clinical practice is known as clinical inquiry. All nurses should utilize clinical inquiry to ask why they are doing something the way they are doing it to continuously improve patient care. Do they understand why it’s done this way, or is it just the way we’ve always done it? Is it standard procedure or best practice?
This assignment will have you identify clinical areas of interest and investigation, as well as practice searching for evidence to support keeping or modifying current practices. You will also compare the research approaches used in this study.
How to Get Ready:
Examine the resources to find a clinical issue of interest that could be the basis for a clinical investigation. Keep in mind that the clinical topic you choose for your study will remain constant throughout the course.
Based on the clinical issue of interest and using keywords related to the clinical issue of interest, search at least four different databases in the Walden Library to identify at least four relevant peer-reviewed articles related to your clinical issue of interest. For this assignment, you should avoid reading systematic reviews and instead choose original research articles.
Examine the findings of your peer-reviewed study and consider how you found peer-reviewed research utilizing an unfiltered database.
Consider the different sorts of research procedures used in the four peer-reviewed publications you choose.
Identifying Research Methodologies (Part 1)
Use the Matrix Worksheet template to examine the methodology used in each of the four peer-reviewed publications you picked after you’ve finished reading them. The following should be included in your analysis:

A one-paragraph statement describing why you chose this peer-reviewed paper and/or how it pertains to your clinical issue of interest, as well as a brief explanation of research ethics relevant to your clinical issue of interest.

The answer is complete. 50 points: The essay illustrates exemplary understanding of the relevant material by thoroughly and correctly addressing the relevant content; identifying and explaining all of the key concepts/ideas; using correct terminology explaining the reasoning behind key points/claims and substantiating, as necessary/useful, points with several accurate and illuminating examples. No aspects of the required answer are missing. Use of Sources (worth a maximum of 20% of the total points). Zero points: Student failed to include citations and/or references. Or the student failed to submit a final paper. 5 out 20 points: Sources are seldom cited to support statements and/or format of citations are not recognizable as APA 6th Edition format. Structure of the Paper (worth 10% of total points) Zero points: Student failed to submit the final paper. 3 points out of 10: Student needs to develop better formatting skills. The paper omits significant structural elements required for and APA 6th edition paper. Formatting of the paper has major flaws.
